Downing
What's this guys problem with West Ham seems to have a big chip on his shoulder - almost every day the same news story that he is really happy to be away from West Ham and how Bilic didn't convince him to stay and is glad to drop down to the Championship as West ham wont go above 10th place so nothing to stay and play for!

Re: DOWNING
After being one of our best performers, he did turn into a bottle job as if he was protecting himself.
After this injury he was never the same.

'Gumption' is a much underused word nowadays (as is 'nowadays').

Give yourself 10 points for using it.

Re: DOWNING
Both Jarvis and Downing have baffled me as BFS signings. Unlike what I expected as BFS men neither of them seemed to have any gumption whatsoever.

Re: DOWNING
If you think he is 'excellent' then you really have very low standards

Re: DOWNING
Excellent Player. If Payet can end the season with the same assists and goals that Downing got last year he will have done well.

But what footballer after breaking back into the England squad, with Euro's at the end of the season forfeits all that to be 'at home' 'near his mum'.

That is his pussy whipped mentality to a tee and that is why he has never fufilled his potential. So mind your arse on the way out.

started well last season then faded. much like his career really.

Re: DOWNING
Until we sold him for (potentially) more than we bought him I think overall he was a poor signing.

Getting the amount we did for him was excellent, but still galling when you consider how much he earned off us and the return he gave.

Good riddance to overhyped bang average rubbish

Been replaced by players miles better. Fuck him.

Only a couple of weeks ago Knicker wetters on here having meltdowns we'd sold him.

I remember Roy Keane saying when we got dicked by Forest that if you see Stewart Downing leading the team out as captain then you you will really fancy your chances.

Re: Downing
It's all part of our progression.
The likes of Gary O'Neil & Matt Taylor have been replaced by Obiang & Kouyate and Downing has been replaced by Payet.

To get our money back and more for a 31yo is very good business.

Knew he wouldn't play in the position he wanted when Payet arrived and spat his dummy out!!..

Always reminded of what a hamster would be like if it evolved to play football.

Re: DOWNING
He looked good in a couple of games but was an exception rather than the rule.

Could never stand him as a player before he signed and that didn't change when he signed. Has never been nearly as good as he thinks and shocking that he actually has international caps.

70k a week is amazing especially when you consider in Middlesborough that equates to about £1m a week

Re: DOWNING
If he has a problem with anything at our club it should really be the fact that he forced his way back into the engkabd setup playing in the hole, then as soon as nolan was fit he got shoved out wide again (where he was average at best)

Bristol City away last season was genius - there was a whole section in the build up to the game about how dangerous he'd been in his new position with all the pundits saying how impressed they were. Match starts and there's nolan in the hole, downing hidden out wide

Less than half the time at West Ham did he deliver much...

Bottler...moody...hit & miss performances...

Glad we got 5million and cleared his wages...

Re: Downing
I was disappointed when we signed him particularly considering the money paid for him

To be honest I never rated him even when he got picked for England

I felt I was going to be proved wrong when he put in some outstanding performances at the start of last season playing at the tip of the diamond

However, it didn't last & his powderpuff tackling became very frustrating

He wouldn't get into the current team now

I expect he could see that coming so decided to move on. Good luck to him

For the money we got for him, at his age, we should be laughing all the way to the bank
